From the Home Office Of
Mayor Mark Turner
Friends,
Serving as Mayor of Morgan Hill has been one of the greatest honors of my life.
Over the past three years, I’ve had the privilege of connecting with residents in the most personal and meaningful ways, sitting at kitchen tables, sharing stories in local coffee shops, walking alongside nonprofit leaders, and standing with business owners who believe deeply in the future of our city. These conversations have shaped my understanding, strengthened my resolve, and reminded me of the extraordinary spirit that defines Morgan Hill.
Over the last 3 years I’ve had the privilege of:
- Launching the READ 20 initiative to strengthen early literacy and support improved reading proficiency among local students.
- Collaborating with community volunteers to establish a new 501(c)(3) foundation dedicated to raising funds for upgrades to the sports fields near the Park Place Apartments.
- Working closely with MHUSD Board members to advance a Workforce Development Initiative that expands opportunities for students and local employers.
- Proposing an ordinance to create clear standards and enforcement tools for pop‑up food carts and street vendors.
- Leading the annual Wreaths Across America effort, helping raise funds and place more than 1,200 memorial wreaths on veterans’ graves each December.
- Partnering with Valley Water to secure funding needed to complete the final phase of the Upper Llagas Creek Flood Control Project, scheduled for completion in 2027/2028.
- Putting forward an ordinance aimed at addressing blighted residential and commercial properties to improve neighborhood quality and community pride.
- Launching an initiative called Merry Morgan Hill to make downtown Morgan Hill a holiday destination, collaborating with the Downtown PBID, Visit Morgan Hill, Downtown Association, Chamber of Commerce, Edward Boss Prado Foundation, and the Kiwanis Club.
- Introducing and securing the adoption of the Public Art Funding Mechanism.
- Championing the Healthy Community concept, now a City Council priority.
- Helping launch the Healthy Morgan Hill Initiative with dedicated volunteers.
- Raising $25,000 to plant trees along the Upper Llagas Creek walking trail.
- Initiating agritourism through local farm tours.
- Collaborating with farmers, ranchers, winery owners, and County Supervisors on balanced ag zoning amendments.
- Establishing the year-round Guac Walk to celebrate our Mexican restaurants.
- Raising hundreds of thousands of dollars to support local nonprofit organizations.
I’ve always believed that leadership begins with listening. That’s why I’ve made it a priority to be present, accessible, and engaged, not just in City Hall, but in the everyday lives of our residents. Because the strongest communities are built on trust.
As we look ahead, I’m excited to continue this journey with you. Let’s keep moving Morgan Hill forward…together.
